Who's it for?

To be able to work effectively with trauma survivors, it is important to be able to recognise vicarious trauma responses in ourselves and those we work with and to know how to manage those responses at an individual level and organisational level.

By the end of this session learners will:

  • know what is meant by vicarious trauma
  • be able to recognise responses to vicarious trauma and the ways it can be experienced
  • understand the difference between vicarious trauma, burnout and compassion fatigue
  • know how to manage responses to vicarious trauma in themselves and other individuals
  • Have an understanding of nervous system regulation with ideas for managing their own vicarious trauma (auto-regulation) and helping others manage theirs (co-regulation)
  • know how to manage responses to vicarious trauma within a team or organisation

This can be delivered as an interactive webinar or as a classroom-based session.  Learner resources include:

Workbook; Powerpoint slides; Information packs; and follow-up resources.

“Thankyou ICENA”

Thank you again for today’s training. I can’t remember the last time I came out of training so inspired and ready for action. So often training is death by PowerPoint and with nothing to take away other than worry and concern that you aren’t able to do something. This was so far from that. On the train, I planned two staff training sessions and worked out a program for our Year class and an individual in particular. Never done that before after training. Both sessions were fantastic.
